hallo
Was sind Ihre Gedanken auf die Laufeigenschaften des neuen Fleischmann br 23 ( 712.303 ) . Würden Sie dieses Hotel empfehlen?

Hi,
is it already out? FL website says delivery will happen in week #53, so in fact the loco will probably arrive the shops around New Year. As parcel services are delayed due to Xmas holidays, I'd bet it will be delivered at 12/31 right before closing time.
However, with respect to the description, no remarkable technical differences shall be implemented, thus the loco can bei expected to run properly. Unless those odd screwed screwers screw it up ....png)

Sorry, my mistake. I've just checked the Fleischmann website and you're right. So the current br 23 is a smooth runner then. Is it as smooth as the br 70?
Thanks for you're input.

You're welcome. The BR 70 has a very smooth drive as it utilizes a customized Faulhaber flat-can motor. The BR 23 has got sort of a "classic" drive, being a smooth runner though - going fast but durable. Interestingly, the official product description claims a flywheel being installed in # 7123 01 and newer ones, however neither I can see it from the spare parts list (there is just a plastic worm on the axle of a brick-type 3-pole motor, nothing special) nor can I imagine where they had put it.

Euro-N,
The Fleischmann 023 is one of the finest tender engines produced in N scale as far as the visual detailing is concerned. The upper part of the tender is a tad too wide (in oder to accomodate the motor), but other than that it is as close to a perfect scale representation as can be accomplished while honoring NEM norms. It runs smoothly even with the old brick three-pole motor and no flywheel and low speed control is surprisingly decent. That said, some users report issues with its pulling ability. Long trains up an incline may be problematic.
Cheers,
Misha

Thanks very much for the informative replies. I can't wait until the 2014 version (with boiler stripes) is released. The Br 23 has always been a good looking locomotive, and I'm pleased to hear that it should be a good runner as well (despite the older motor design). On a side note, are there any other fleischmann tender engines that possess even smoother slow speed control?
Thanks again, Euro-N

Nochmals vielen Dank, Euro-N

Euro-N,
The Fleischmann 023 has been around with boiler stripes previously. I have one. See, e.g.:
http://www.spurweite-n.de/ncontent/ndb/ndb-artd...w=13&MaxCount=49
The new one (712303) will have an embossed DB logo on the boiler door. I think that's new. There were many variations of the 023 in real life:
