Hello!

If i plan to do automation to  layout in future
(occupancy detectors, anticollision defene,  smooth braking (lenz or zimo), sheduled trains... etc)
i must insulate rails in advance, when im  laying  tracks.
But how to do it correctly?

Please help or give me some links or tutorial, how correctly insulate tracks.
I mean place of insulating gaps and common block section structure and organisation for multiple train running.

Now i plan approximately to do this as follows:

http://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/3905/vadimav.0/0_30415_2c36df41_orig

EXPLANATION:
TRAIN:
1) The train has load wheels at first and at last car.
2) The train cannot be longer than station way plus some reserve for error of braking.

WAYS:
0) One rail - common(duplicated by  Catenary if exists) another - insulated according to below laws:
1) All  blocks are isolated from each other and have current-sensitive occupancy detectors.
2) All station blocks and mainline block sections has clearance stripes (short block sections) for anticollision defence.
3) Bidirectional ways has a switch of direction (hardware or program) for correct working of lights- and braking authomatics.
4) Braking uses constant braking principle on DCC
5) If brake fails, power ll shut down for errorneous trains (using red blocks for detection, see picture on link).

Does my solution correct?

May be it can be do more easier or by different way?

Please help !

Hi,

first of all, please forget powered catenary instantly - with digital control the risk of damage by placing the loco in the wrong direction onto the track is so high that is not worth to do it.

Second a general hint: Build a much smaller layout first for evaluation of all the necessary techniques you have in mind - that way you will practise in "learning-by-doing" mode and will get answers to all that questions you have listed, and many more. This also will help you to avoid frustration by getting stuck.

Your questions are welcome, but do not bomb us out with such overwhelming project.

Grüße, Peter W.
Thanks, Peter!
I already did "learning by evaluating" stage, using Roco start set at my floor , and modifying it for Lenz DCC ABC principle - it works well, and therefore  i decide to use it al my more bigger layout.

At simply stage - i ll connect all block sections together.
and if it ll work -i ll do only lights and occupancy.... etc.
I ll use Your sequental principle ""learning by evaluating"".

Thanks,
----------
