Topic: SAFE GLUE FOR TRACK=?
Hello again.
Now i remade my layout, extending radiuses for my couple of KATO -p42, and removing some tunouts and tracks -
I detect, that my glue distotred my track!!!!
It seems as "puff up"-s at middles of turnouts, and some "melts" of sleepers on track, which made rails freely opened!
This glue consist of Acetone, Polyurethane, and Ethyl-Acetate.
(Russian TradeMark named as "Moment Krystall")
Is this components dangerous for this track?
My question:
Which glue is robust, more convenient, good and safe for this track?
In further making i plan to use Epoxy Resin( or joiner's glue for wood) for Cork to Plywood connection,
and I dont know how to SAFELY glue track onto Cork?
May be CyanAcrylate may fit?

Hello Vadim,
One way to fix cork to plywood and also your tracks to cork is simply silicone from your next DIY-store.
It is not dangerous for your tracks, and, if necessary, you can remove them without destroying.
greetings
Klaus

Ok!
Thanks, Klaus!
I ll conduct some test experiments with Silicone.
And, then, i ll write results there..
Now i m going to buy silicone glue....

@Klaus: Silicone? The silicone that is usually used in bathrooms and that smells like vinegar?
I am usually using Pattex (I do not know what the international brand for it is) for fixing Peco-tracks on cork. Cork on plywook is fixed with "Weissleim" (casein glue? oder trälim in Schwedisch).png)

Exactly that silicone. But as I said its only one way.
Some people like to use "Pattex" and "Weissleim", as you do.
I don't no if the glue is " Pattex" named in moscow too (or the name of a similar glue available there)
; so I told Vadim to try it with silicone.

Hi,
Be careful using glue that contains solvents in conjunction with any synthetic material!
I know "Moment" being used by the Henkel company in eastern Europe as a brand for the glue types known as "Pattex" in Germany.
Maybe "Moment Kristall" is "Pattex Transparent". The Moment/Pattex stuff is definitely not suitable for themoplasts like PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) and I'd be careful with others.
Acetone is an aggressive solvent that melts most kinds of plastics. Most types of construction glue intended for plastics (especially glue for kits made of polystyrene) do contain Acetone because it helps chaining the molecules tightly by melting the surface.
Regards, Peter

Hello,
Pattex by the Henkel company is sold in Russia under the name Moment-1 (Момент-1). But, be careful, just as Peter W. has written, Moment/Pattex stuff is definitely not suitable for themoplasts like PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene)!
Ponal glue (white glue for wood) of the the Henkel company in Russia, unfortunately, not at all on sale, as far as I know (never saw it over there!). But in Russia there is a good substitute WB310 or WB 330 of the company Artelit, I always used it for any repair of wood in Russia, looks and smells equal to Ponal.png)

Thanks, Klaus, and Martin.
Now i ll imagine in my mind the following order:
Cork to PlyWood:
1) Epoxy Resin
2) TiTeBond(Use) Alyphatic Resin water based or water solluble wood glues.
3) Some another whater based Whood glues like Kaseine and poly-something-acetace (like PVA)
Mark:
Water based glues not so preferable, because may distort plywood, knowing that fact that wet plywood can something be expanded, and when attached to webbings - it can be turned.
Therefore Epoxy would be the best!
Track to Cork:
Glue must be only adhesive for plastic.
The glue solvents must not dissolve plactic!
Acetone and another strong organic solvents based glues - not applicvable. (AcetoNitrile, EthylAcetate, etc...)
Hydrophobic glues also not recommended, because Ballast will be glued by PVA (Poly Vinyl-Acetate in H2O) and it was difficult to decorate it.
Therefore the range is:
1) Also any wood glue like TiteBond, Kaseine, Carpentry glue.
2) Epoxy resin - dont fit. It cannot be adhesive with plastic.
2) May be cyanoacrylate glue may fit?
In any case this contact may be not so hard, becauce another stage with ballast and PVA will attach track as well!
One can see this stage at the well famous film:

There was my last thoughts about it .
Thanks for attention to all, who see and also to who answer!
