Hello.

Recently i tested RocRail programm.
This programm works, but have unclearity in programming routes from moment of activation to the cancellations.

For example, i cannot programm waits, lights  and functions  between route start and loco start. (for real delay between car light on and starting)
Loco starts immedialtely! It's not so realistic!
I cannot program route dependant functions when loco run through sensors.
Only sensor dependant actions can be programmed without addressing to routes.
This fact lead to a lot of programm work!
Also I cannot programm cancellation process (waits, shut off lights, etc. )

Even internal automation of trottle named as Viessmann Commander allow it much more clear!

QUESTION:
Do You know IBM-PC program which allow to program routes as much as clear?
May be WinDigiPet or TrainController will allow it?

Please HELP!

------
Thanks,
Vadim

Hi  Vadim,

I think, You should try TrainController.

Greetings Michael Peters
Ok! Thanks!
But how and where can i download this program ?
Is it free ?

------------
Thanks,
Vadim.
Hallo Vadim
you can download the program on http://www.freiwald.com/seiten/
You'll get a "test-version", that means it switches off the conection to your computer after 15 min. But you can start it again. In spite of this, it ist for full function. When you pay for the programm you will receave an usb-stick which contains the code.
So you can test everything befor byeing.
There is an english explanation an an english forum, too.
Greetings
Friedhelm
Thanks, Friedhelm

I ve already tested it in weekend!
Mainly, it's better than RocRail, simplier in use.
Thanks!
But it uses the same block-oriented principle as RocRail. This is the same ideology!
It havent any ability to fully programm each route independantly,  but,
newertheless it has in shedule properties start and end fields for commands (switching lights and functions needed.)

May be another route-oriented programs exists?

---------
Thanks,
Vadim

Hi Vadim,

I think, one weekend is too short to test TC.

I use TC since several years and find up to today new features.
Zitat

It havent any ability to fully programm each route independantly,  but,

Youcan define a lot of routes and start any (or may) route following one other. You can setup scheduling routines depending on time (houres) etc.

Try it

Greetings Michael Peters
Thanks, Michael Peters .

I Already tried TC as mentioned at upper message.
But I told  that TC cannot programm inside route commands in detailes .

In addition, TC is VERY AND VERY EXPENSIVE !

Therefore i seek another programs....

If You know it, please describe.

---------
Thanks,
Vadim.
Hi Vadim,

expensive is relative..... o.k. the price is that of two lokos...

I only know one program free of charge, but it is for SX and as far as I remember, You drive with DCC.

Greetings Michael Peters
Thanks to all!

CONCLUSION:

As i understood  at present day about Automation:

1)TrainController is the best
It's multilanguage/multicountry/multisystem.
I examined demo and build all automation of my layout per ONE DAY!
PDF - Manual is quite clear.
But full programm cocts a lot! It's TOO EXPENSIVE!
It's UNRELIABLY EXPENSIVE!

2) WinDigiPet also too expencive and only German-RailRoad-oriented programm .

3)I also examined FreeWare program RocRail.
I buid only 3 ways per 3 days after a lot of headache, reading different manuals in RocRail site and remooving bugs.
Finaly - it's works, but "anyhow"....
There are no PDF manual!
Other instructions is not quite clear.
Program's strategy also not so clear.
Possibilities to program a route clearly  - hidden and very restricted.

4) JMRI - for free, but  Havent any advanced automatics for train movements.

As for automated trottles containing processors and large screens:

5) I examined ViessMann Commander. This thing allow automation without IBM-PC and have all electronics in one box.
Automation works and route ideology is clear.
But this thing is new and have some bugs and restrictions.
I debugged routes  about a month with digital osciloscope and VideoCamera.
FirmWare is quite wet now, but has ability to download and flash new one!
It can be connected to IBM-PC but cannot be connected to trainprograms (havent any drivers)
I asked Jurgen Meier, He told that Viessmann dont plan to make ability to make this and  connect it to Programms. This connection is mainly only for BackUp and Upgrade.
NEWERTHELESS!
It cost applicable for advanced trottle+embedded automation.
Electronicl works well (in comparison with some LocoDecoders from Viessmann)

6) ECOS1(B/W) and ECOS2(Color) from ESU. - Linux Based All in One advanced trotles.
They have track diagram at LCD screens, plan to showoccupancy status.
But as HEAD of ESU told me - They DONT PLAN TO EMBEDD ANY AUTOMATION inside ESU.
ESU costs more than Viessmann, and haven any automation.

Now You can decide by himself - what to do!

-----------

Thanks,

Vadim.
